Remove Zqqw Ransomware

The Zqqw Ransomware is a file-locker, which has been built via the STOP Ransomware project. Unfortunately, victims of this threat might have a hard time getting their files back. Once the Zqqw Ransomware infiltrates a system, it encrypts the contents of documents, media, archives, and other files. It then adds the extension '.zqqw' to their name. Finally, it deploys the ransom document '_readme.txt.' The latter file advises the victim to purchase a decryptor for $490. The criminals also threaten to double the ransom fee to $980 if the victim does not pay on time.

The criminals use the emails helpteam@mail.ch and helpmanager@airmail.cc to get in touch with their victims. They offer to unlock 1-2 small files for free – an offer that you should accept. However, agreeing to meet the demands of Zqqw Ransomware's creators is not a good idea. They might try to extort you for money if you pay the initial ransom fee. Other STOP variants like the Leex Ransomware use a similar strategy.

How it the Zqqw Ransomware Spread?

But how do threats like this one end up on your computer? Typically, this may happen via a fake email attachment that you downloaded by accident. For example, cybercriminals may often mask malicious files as harmless documents or archives. The Zqqw Ransomware may also hide in pirated software and games or other shady files you typically find on torrent trackers. It is a bad idea to download torrents, and you should always keep your system protected by an antivirus tool while engaging in such activities.
