Remove Tgipus Ransomware

ransomware

Ransomware attacks have proven to be incredibly profitable for cybercriminals. In 2021 alone, we encountered hundreds of new threats of this type and, unfortunately, it does not look like this trend will die down any time soon. One of the latest file-lockers to be seen in the wild is the Tgipus Ransomware. It has no affiliation with major ransomware families, and it appears that its creators might have written the program from scratch. Unfortunately, the Tgipus Ransomware appears to be very secure, and it is unlikely that its victims will be able to rely on a free decryption tool.

The Tgipus Ransomware Attack

When the Tgipus Ransomware infiltrates a system, it will attempt to encrypt the files found on hard drives, SSDs, and removable storage media. The ransomware is programmed to avoid encrypting certain files that could prevent programs and the operating system from working – executable files, DLLs, etc. It will certainly not spare documents, images, archives, and other file formats that typically contain important or sensitive information.

Tgipus Ransomware

All files that the Tgipus Ransomware takes as hostages will have the '.tgipus' added to their name. The threat usually ends attacks by creating the 'RESTORE_FILES_INFO.txt' ransom message. This file tells victims to prepare to pay a ransom fee via Monero, and to use the BitMessage or Tox services in order to get in touch with the criminals. Tgipus Ransomware's creators do not offer any proof that they can decrypt files or that their decryption tool is real. It is very possible that they might scam anyone who opts to pay the ransom fee. If you are a Tgipus Ransomware victim, you should run an anti-malware tool to ensure the elimination of the dangerous malware. Once you take care of this task, you should explore alternative data recovery options.
