Tab Clear Adware

While investigating suspicious websites, our researchers stumbled upon the Tab Clear browser extension. This extension is marketed as a tool that can close all types of browser tabs with a single click. Upon our analysis, we determined that Tab Clear is, in fact, adware, which means it is designed to inundate users with unwanted and deceptive advertisements.

Adware typically displays various types of ads, such as pop-ups, overlays, banners, surveys, and more, on visited websites or other interfaces. This third-party visual content primarily promotes online scams, untrustworthy or harmful software, and sometimes even malware. Clicking on some of these intrusive ads can trigger scripts that initiate downloads or installations without the user's consent.

In cases where the browser or system is incompatible, specific sites are not visited, or other conditions are not met, adware like Tab Clear might not display intrusive ad campaigns. However, even if Tab Clear doesn't show ads, its mere presence on a system poses a risk to both the device and user safety.
