PlusLift is the name of an adware application, also called simply an ad-supported application. It belongs to the family of adware versions known as AdLoad and can affect Mac computers.

Adware generally works by delivering advertisements to the target system, generating profit for the adware maker in the process.

The largest issue here is that adware apps often partner with rogue ad networks and deliver their ads to the end user. Rogue networks may often serve up ads that link to questionable content, malicious and unsafe pages, scams, or potentially unwanted apps.
