Painter Extension is a rogue browser extension that will change settings inside your browser without your permission or consent and start redirecting your searches, as well as displaying ads embedded in pages and as pop-ups.
This behavior is undesirable because a lot of those rogue extensions work with rogue ad networks and the ads they serve may link to problematic places, such as scam or phishing pages, misleading websites or questionable online content.
Browser hijackers that are distributed as extensions are usually easy to remove, thankfully. Just find the extension in your browser's addons or extensions menu and click on it to remove it. In the majority of cases, this will be enough to stop the influx of unsolicited ads.
