Remove Mmnn Ransomware

vegalocker ransomware

Dealing with a ransomware attack is not easy, regardless if we are talking about the basic file-lockers circulating online, or the high-quality ones used by elite cybercriminals. One of the most popular ransomware families at the moment is the STOP Ransomware, and it has easily overthrown the Dharma Ransomware as the most popular name among cybercriminals. Unfortunately, countering STOP's encryption is impossible via free tools, and the only hope of its victims is to restore their files from a backup. A new version of the STOP Ransomware is being delivered through spam emails, and it goes by the alias Mmnn Ransomware.

The Mmnn Ransomware's attack is swift and destructive – it needs just a few minutes to apply a strong encryption to the majority of the victim's files. When it locks a file successfully, the ransomware will add the '.mmnn' extension to its name. Another change that this ransomware does is to drop a document titled '_readme.txt.' This document contains a message from the perpetrators, as well a short description of the attack. Same as the one used by other STOP variants like Nusm Ransomware and MMTA Ransomware.

Files locked by the Mmnn Ransomware

Mmnn Ransomware's creators state that they are ready to unlock 1-2 small files for free – as long as the victim sends them to helpdatarestore@firemail.cc or helpmanager@mail.ch. The criminals promise to deliver a full decryption service to all victims who pay a ransom fee of $490 via Bitcoin. They also emphasize on the fact that this is a promotional price, only valid for the next 72 hours – three days after the attack, the ransom fee will be doubled.

If you are considering paying the ransom fee, then we assure you that this is not a great idea. There is no reason to trust Mmnn Ransomware's creators – even if you pay them once, they may ask for another payment and try to scam you out of more money. Instead, you should aim to eliminate the infection by using an up-to-date antivirus software suite. Once the Mmnn Ransomware has been dispatched of safely, you can try out popular data recovery services and software.
