What is the Purpose of AllocateType Adware?
AllocateType is a piece of ad-supported software or adware that can affect Mac computers. AllocateType belongs to the family of AdLoad adware clones.
AllocateType is an app that will show up in your Applications folder. There are dozens of variants of what is essentially the same adware - all AdLoad clones, distributed under different names. Variants are named by putting two words together, usually nouns. This will often produce nonsensical names such as AllocateType.
The sole purpose of adware is to deliver ads to your system. There is one significant issue with this behavior. A lot of the ads shown through similar ad-supported apps are sourced from rogue ad networks and are unsolicited in nature.
Similar rogue ads can redirect to malicious or misleading websites, questionable content and potentially unwanted apps. This is why it's advisable to clean your Mac of similar adware apps.
In most cases, cleanup is a simple task. Just drag the adware application, whether it's AllocateType or one of its dozens of clones, onto the Trash, then empty the Trash.
