How to Uninstall Slack

Slack is a business-oriented communication platform that allows for persistent chat rooms, similar to Discord servers and channels, but with a heavier focus on company organization. Slack also offers direct messaging, sharing files and a variety of other features that make it suitable for a teamwork environment.

If for any reason you want to uninstall Slack from your computer, whether because you found an alternative you would rather use, or because you no longer need the software's functionality, you can use the easy steps provided in this article to do it.

If you are uninstalling Slack from a Windows 10 PC, do the following:

  1. Open your start menu, then click the Settings icon, shaped like a gear.
  2. In the settings window, click on Apps.
  3. In the list of installed applications, find Slack and click it, then click the “Uninstall” button.
  4. Follow the uninstaller’s onscreen instructions to complete the process.

If you are uninstalling Slack from a Mac computer, do the following:

  1. Make sure Slack is closed.
  2. Navigate to your Applications folder, either through Finder or by using the dock shortcut.
  3. Find the Slack icon inside the Applications folder and drag and drop it onto your Trash.
  4. Click “Go” in the Finder menu, then click on “Go to Folder”.
  5. Type “~/library” in the field and press Enter.
  6. In the Library folder that shows up, find Slack and drag and drop it onto your Trash.
  7. Empty your Trash to complete the uninstall process.

If you followed those steps precisely, you will have successfully uninstalled Slack from your system, whether you are running Windows 10 or MacOS.
