How to Uninstall MPlayerX

Most modern media players are compatible with all of the popular operating systems – Linux, Mac, and Windows. However, there are also exclusive software for particular platforms. MPlayerX is one of these apps, and it is only available to Mac users. Typically, if you are a Mac user and want to uninstall an app, a drag-and-drop move to the Trash Bin is all you need to do. However, this might not be enough with MPlayerX – some of its files and configuration may be left behind.

If you are running MPlayerX on your Mac and wish to remove it, then here are the steps that you should follow to complete this task efficiently.

How to Uninstall MPlayerX on Mac

  1. First, go to Utilities -> Activity Monitor and make sure to terminate the MPlayerX process.
  2. Open the Applications folder through Finder, and then drag the icon of MPlayerX to the Trash Bin.
  3. Here comes the tricky part. Your next step is to use the Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder menu to visit the following directories - /Library/Preferences/, /Library/Application Support/, /Library/Caches/.
  4. Make sure to check for files and folders related to MPlayerX in these directories. Delete any entries you find.
  5. Once you are done with all this, make sure to right-click the Trash Bin and press Secure Empty Trash. This should finalize the removal of MPlayerX's files and components.
