Box Sync is a great service, which allows users to back up their data with easy. It is not as popular as the major services like OneDrive and Dropbox, but it still has plenty of users on both Windows and macOS. If you are not planning to use Box Sync any longer, then it is probably best to remove it. This will free up disk space and the hardware resources that Box Sync would use otherwise. However, the removal may not always go smooth for non-experienced users – here is how to uninstall Box Sync on both Windows and macOS.

How to Uninstall Box Sync on Mac

Start by quitting the app entirely through the Dock. Then, do the following:

1. Open Finder -> Applications and move Box Sync to the Trash Bin.
2. Typically, this would be enough to remove software, but Box Sync's is a bit different. You will need to remove some leftover files. So, open Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder -> ~/Library.
3. Then, delete Box Sync files and folders in the following folders ~/Library/Application Support, ~/Library/Caches, ~/Library/Preferences, ~/Library/Logs.
4. You will also find a Box Sync file under the folder ~/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools – delete it.
5. Finally, restart your Mac, and you should be all set.

How to Uninstall Box Sync on Windows

Windows users should have it much easier than Mac users. All they need to do is:

1. Quit Box Sync completely by closing it from the Task Bar.
2. Then, go to Start Menu -> Add or Remove Programs.
3. Find Box Sync, select it, and press Uninstall.
